Design Festa | Tokyo | May 17 & 18, 2008

I have lots of exciting events coming up but one in particular will probably be the largest event I’ll ever do. Design Festa is known as the largest artistic event in Asia. There will be over 6,000 artists, entertainers and designers at this event — I can’t wait! You can see some of the artist profiles here. I’m super excited to get back to Japan in the warmth of Spring and participate in what looks to be an inspiring event!

Aiko Designs @ the Brooklyn Flea

Super excited to say that I’ll be taking my jewelry to Brooklyn by participating in the Brownstoner Brooklyn Flea! This not *any* flea market (not really a “flea market” at all!) — there are some amazing vendors participating with vintage and modern goods. Some of the vendors include a collective of Design*Sponge designers, former Bay Area designer Lotta Jansdotter, and a slew of independent, up-and-coming and well established designers and artisans. There will also be waffles, toffee and chocolate vendors!

The grand opening is Sunday, April 6th, and festivities include a performance of Baby Loves Jazz featuring Sharon Jones at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple (across the street from the flea).

Aiko Designs at Chillin’ Productions

Saturday, Mar. 1st :: Chillin’ Productions at 111 Minna Gallery in San Francisco from 8:00pm ’til 2:00am. This show will feature 50 designers, live music and 2 DJ’s + the current exhibit at the Gallery. 111 Minna is 21+ Hope to see you there!

The Princess Project

This is a special organization that does great things. The Princess Project provides free prom dresses and accessories to girls who might not otherwise be able to afford them. I’ve been involved with the Princess Project for several years now, sometimes volunteering at events and donating jewelry every year.

We’ll be heading into Spring soon and The Princess Project is collecting dresses and accessories as well as recruiting volunteers. If you’re in the Bay Area and would like to get involved, get more information at: http://www.princessproject.org. If you aren’t in the Bay Area, they also provide information on other organizations and locations.
